About Western Australia
Referred to as 'The Golden West' Western Australia is Australia's largest state, with over 12,000km of majestic coastline.
Western Australia is famous for its long days of sunshine, spotless blue skies and abundance of wild flowers, (there are more found here than anywhere else in the world). It is a land blessed with spectacular diversity where the deep reds of ancient interior rock formations contrast with the sparkling blue of the Indian Southern Ocean and the lush greenery of the stunning southern regions.
Dive with the world's largest fish - the whale shark at Ningaloo Reef, swim with wild dolphins at Monkey Mia, take a Cable Beach camel ride at Broom or walk amongst the tree tops of ancient trees at the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. Sleep under a canopy of stars in the desert, or explore the beehive-like formations of the Bungle Bungles with the assistance of an Aboriginal guide.
To the far north is the Kimberley region covering an area of approximately 423,000 square km: This is an immense area of natural beauty, diverse landscape, long winding coastlines, spectacular gorges, caves, and waterfalls. Away from the coast, much of the interior is barren. The Great Sandy Desert, the Nullarbor Plain, the Gibson and the Great Victorian Deserts cover much of the state offering their own unique experiences.
Perth itself offers an easy-going lifestyle – the beautiful Swan River and inner-city parks like Kings Park add to the relaxed, natural feel. From the city, head to the South West for world class wineries, (including the internationally acclaimed Margaret River Wine Region), luxury accommodation and the forests of tall trees. These taper off to a ribbon of coastal hinterlands of sheltered bays and rivers, often lined with massive granite boulders and stunning outlooks.
The sheer size of Western Australia beckons visitors back, time and time again.
