Sydney Restaurant, Accommodation & Travel Highlights

About Sydney

The capital of NSW is the oldest and the most beautifully situated city in Australia. A fashionable and stylish city, images of Sydney have become symbols of Australia throughout the world. If shopping is what you are after, then you’ll be spoilt for choice with trendy boutiques found throughout. The Rocks is renowned for shopping, dining and sightseeing, while further out there are marketplaces in Flemington, Balmain, Darlinghurst and Paddington, well worth the visit. Chinatown near Haymarket is another colourful attraction, which leads to the Darling Harbour area, For evening entertainment Sydney is the nations capital. From the Opera House to buskers, every taste is catered for. Restaurants are also varied and cosmopolitan in character, offering every combination of cuisine, decor and atmosphere. The environment is matched by a sunny climate without extremes which makes the most of the golden surf beaches to the north and south of the city, and the rugged mountains to the west.

When to Visit Sydney

Sydney has distinct seasons which can be enjoyed all year round. Autumn is typically warm and crisp averaging 17 - 22°C; winter averages 15°C in the daytime, although temperatures can drop below 10°C, (which feels comparatively cold); spring can be wet but is generally pleasant, averaging 13 - 22°C. If you’re planning to spend a lot of time on the beach, the best time to visit is summer, between December – February, although it can get a little humid.

Getting Around Sydney

Sydney’s Domestic and International Airports are located approximately 15-20 minutes drive from the city centre. Busses, trains and taxis offer a direct link to the city and suburbs from the terminal. Transport is no problem with a fast underground railway system, picturesque harbour ferries, busses and taxis. Driving in Sydney is also made easy by excellent roads and extensive highway/freeway networks. Signage is also usually pretty good, however the CBD and main roads leading to it can get heavily congested during peak times.
