2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the American 'Great White Fleet' visit to Australia. In 1907 President Roosevelt decided to send an American Naval Fleet on an epic cruise.

In the 1930s Sydney artist Jack Earl cherished a romantic dream to sail the world. In 1947 he finally set out with five crew in his ketch Kathleen Gillett. The boat was named after his beloved wife who had to stay behind. After eighteen months in exotic places Kathleen Gillett returned to Sydney.

Kids Deck is a fun and exciting hands-on program for children and their families that includes activities such as craft, stories, games, puzzles & dress ups. It is held every Sunday from 11am-3pm during school term and 10am-4pm daily during the school holidays. View the school holiday program here.

WetWorld is full of entertaining activities for children to explore and enjoy the properties of water. There are experiments for you to do in Wet Lab, exciting River Races, Aqua Play and the fabulous Super Soaker Action Zone. Open 10am-4pm daily (last entry 3.30pm). Recommended for children 3-9yrs.

Every day at the museum from January 5 - 25: 11am-3pm. Take part in a series of workshops learning skills from around the Pacific Islands. Get hands-on with activities from body tattoos through to log drumming, plus cultural performances and demonstrations.
